American Highland — Barn Board | Wolf & Steer
Some mornings on our 30 acres in Ithaca, Michigan, the light hits the old barn board just right — that gray, weathered, grain-deep kind of wood that's seen a few winters. Set a Scottish Highland cow against that backdrop, layer in a faded American flag, and you've got the feeling we tried to capture on this shirt. It's the farm we actually live on, dressed up a little.
The American Highland — Barn Board design pairs a shaggy Highland cow with a distressed flag over rustic wood-grain texture. It's patriotic without shouting, rustic without being cutesy. Printed with DTG (direct-to-garment) ink on a Bella+Canvas 3001 unisex jersey tee, so the detail in the barn board and the softness of the cow's coat both come through. The 3001 is the tee people keep reaching for — 100% ring-spun cotton, a real shoulder seam, a cut that works on just about everyone.
Who it's for
If you've got a Highland cow lover in your life, a farm kid, a country girl, a flag-flying dad who also happens to own three cattle panels and a pair of muck boots — this one lands. It works as a Father's Day gift, a birthday tee, a Fourth of July pick, or just a solid everyday shirt for anyone who likes their patriotism with a little hay in it. Pairs well with jeans, flannels, and porches.

A note on how we make things
We don't stockpile shirts in a warehouse. Every tee is printed after you order it, usually within two to five business days, then shipped from the closest Printful facility to you. That keeps waste down and quality up — your shirt isn't sitting in a box for six months waiting to get wrinkled. If you're buying for a specific date, we'd say give it about a week to ten days to land.
The design was drawn to look right on both lighter and darker tees, so whether you go for a classic white, a heather, a military green, or something bolder, the flag and the Highland hold their detail. The barn-board texture is where the design really earns its name — up close you can see the grain, the knots, the way old wood goes silver instead of brown.
Why Highland cows, why a flag, why barn board
Highland cattle are our thing. Our mama cow Belle is a ginger Highland with the full shaggy coat and the long horns, and we've spent a lot of time watching how that breed moves through a Michigan pasture. They belong on weathered wood. They belong next to a flag. This shirt is our way of putting that feeling on cotton.
